Awesome! I've been practicing here and there but I'm kinda running out of recipes to try out.
I've been trying to get better making lunch and dinner sort of dishes, plus giving it a go with foods from other people's worlds. Do you know of anything that a rookie like me could try and maaaaaaaaybe not end up burning down the kitchen?

oh thats easy!
believe it or not cooking things like steaks is pretty easy for beginners
omelette... stew... those are the first things i did!
but i just learned from a book

Stew sounds nice! I'm actually a big fan of soups,
especially when it gets colder.

Yeah I had a friend teaching me back home. After that I started learning from someone here, he's around your age.

Well I wouldn't say I'm scholarly, either, so I guess we're in the same boat.

But if that means you have trouble reading complicated things I can help. At least a little.

What kind of stew should I make? Vegetable? Beef?

just nothing...too complicated...

but for stews maybe try a vegetable one first
in case ya mess up? meat is expensive
plus that way ya can practice a lot of knife skills!

[Outside Rin's dorm, knocking on the door--and sending off a text before really waiting to see if he responds to the knocking, since he's not sure if Rin is actually home.]

[Mostly he wants to know if he can make Rin be one of Rose's test subjects first so he can see what it actually involves before he subjects himself to it, not knowing if Rin's in any shape to do that.]

[ He's jostled awake from his sickness-induced haze more by the knocking than the message, but he blinks blearily at it nonetheless. ]

[Shima may or may not have picked up or have worked on picking up more breaking in skills, but he's a spy not a thief, you know... Regardless, he is absolutely the sort of person who would try a door to see if it's open even if he hasn't been invited yet.]

...Oi, Okumura-kun...! I let myself in. [Calling that from the doorway before he wanders in, sleeve over his nose for now while he's trying to determine how sick Rin actually is. He pokes his head through the bedroom doorway when he spots that messy head of hair.]

How'd ya even manage ta get sick? Don't tell me it's that thing going around...

[ His imagination is quite creative when it comes to thinking about what spies and thieves are up to, okay. Sneaking around in the middle of the night and stuff of the sort is typical!! ]

My roommate...

[ Rin grumbles in reply, the haziness from the illness causing him to react more weakly than he would have at the prospect of Shima just waltzing into his room. He barely looks up from his place on the bed, surrounded by an array of blankets and pillows. His nose is stuffed with tissues, and it's clear from sight alone that he has little idea of how to take care of himself other than to bundle up. ]

Don't come too near!! Ya might get it too.

Jeez, if it can get you sick, I'd almost believe it--lucky for me I've been hanging out with sick people all week 'n haven't caught it yet. Just don't sneeze on me...

[Coming up to get a better look at him]

Ya look like a mess... Have ya even been getting any fluids? You're gonna dehydrate through your nose.

[He sounds more teasing than concerned, even though the advice is genuine.]

I ain't gonna sneeze on ya...

[ He makes a (small) effort to sit up and lean back against the headboard of the bed, sniffling as he does so. ]

I wasn't really that bad until today. So I haven' gotten much - [ Ah. He's gonna turn his face away because he can feel an oncoming sneeze and with his track record for today - ] Ah-choo!!

[ There goes the bulb in the corner of the room, shattering with a faint blue light. ]
